High Impedance Bridging Performance

In the C-4124 test condition, a 10 kΩ secondary load produces 14 kΩ typical input impedance at 1 kHz. That value is well above that of a 600 Ω professional source. The input can receive the signal without making the source drive a closely matched load.

A matched 600:600 circuit places the source and load in the same low-impedance relationship. We specify this transformer for line-input circuits where the source needs to see a bridging input rather than a 600 Ω load match.

Shielding And Ground Path Control

The C-4124 uses a mu-metal can and lid to shield the transformer assembly. An interwinding electrostatic Faraday shield connects to pin 6. This shield gives the circuit a defined reference point for controlling common-mode noise between the primary and secondary windings.

The case ground is separate from the Faraday shield and connects to pin 7. We recommend connecting pin 6 to the signal ground at the receiving end and connecting pin 7 to the chassis earth ground. That separation helps the equipment designer control the shield reference, case reference, and ground-loop risk without treating every ground point as the same node.

PCB Mount Fit And Connections

Board-level installation depends on package size, pin layout, and orientation. The C-4124 comes in an 8-pin PCB-mount package with a 1.19-inch body diameter and 0.87-inch body height. Pins measure 0.018 by 0.030 inches and extend 0.18 inches for through-board mounting.

The pin layout follows a standard 8-pin DIP transformer footprint. The pin layout has 0.15-inch spacing within each row and 0.76-inch spacing across the rows. Pin 1 is marked with a dot on top of the can, so orientation can be verified before assembly or service work.
